Newsflash: gymnastics – maybe more than any other youth sport – is EXPENSIVE.
A Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) is a systematic approach to evaluate the potential costs and benefits of a decision or project. It is used to determine whether the benefits of a proposed project or investment are greater than the costs. The results of the CBA can inform decision-making by providing a clear picture of the expected costs and benefits.
Ya, but what does this have to do with gymnastics?
Our kids practice almost everyday, all year round. During meet season, we travel to meets which can hundreds or even thousands of miles away – making it necessary to stay in hotels, eat at restaurants and fill our gas tanks (or buy plane tickets). We purchase new meet uniform kits. Often times, we pay for extra private coaching sessions or open gym time. This is not even counting the hours that we as parents put in driving and others coordinating schedules to somehow make it all work.
And now, along comes meetcritique – asking parents to pony up even more dough for their gymnast. That brings us back to the cost-benefit analysis.
Our most popular customer purchase is the Full Meet Package. With that $65 package, you get 6 events critiqued for the cost of 5 single meetcritiques. It works out to a little under $11 per routine submitted (thank you, Mr. Calculator).
$65 is not an insignificant amount of money. But put it in context of a weekend spent competing at a meet away from home. And then consider what you are getting: direct, customized feedback on your routines delivered in a way that has never been possible. We literally let you see what the judges see. This has so many benefits. Gymnasts get to see every deductions that could be dragging down a score – and we point out any bonuses available to a specific level. And we even point out composition errors that could be costing your gymnast before they even chalk up for an event. For our Optional gymnasts, we give a Start Value. This is a huge secret decoder ring to a score (note: will our SVs match other judge’s every time? Probably not. But it will provide you with a baseline number that WILL be in the ballpark). And then there is the Judge’s Feedback. This might be the most important part of a meetcritique – especially for the gymnasts in lower levels. You get 3 tips, suggestions or comments direct from a nationally-certified judge.
And then there’s what a meetcritique offers PARENTS. Let’s face it: knowledge of gymnastics’ scoring is not ingrained in most parents. Who hasn’t been perplexed by a score and left a meet confused and feeling slighted. Meetcritique lets you see behind the curtain. And, whoa, that can be empowering! Heck, that’s why I started meetcritique.
I would love to read some comments and – or I invite you to email us at hello@v2.meetcritique.com if you have any questions or concerns. Or follow and reach out to us on Instagram – love connecting and engaging on that platform with gymnasts and parents!
